Highest Geometrical Precision for Spanish Cold Rolling Mill
For its new Greenfield Project, our customer Coated Solutions, a Spanish producer of color coated and pre-painted steel strip near León (located directly at the famous Way of St. James), decided to buy a foundation-free roll grinder WS 450 S x 4500 CNC Monolith™ for the machining of back-up and work rolls with a grinding diameter of up to 1,200 mm.
To meet the high demands, the machine is equipped with the reliable surface inspection technology of HCC/KPM. The Eddy Current sensor detects cracks on the roll surface, while the ultrasonic sensor also detects defects both near the roll surface and deep inside the roll core.
Additionally, the grinder is equipped with C-frame technology to measure the roll geometry and alignment accurately and reliably. The probe thus provides an exact image of the current grinding condition of the workpiece. The resulting measurement data can then be used for correction grinding “on the fly” and further processed by our roll shop management system.
For inspection, assembly and disassembly of the roll chocks, two extractors and a chock tilter that allow the roll shop to be operated safely and efficiently are included in the scope of supply.
The assembly is carried out, supervised and approved by our experts on site.
